QT Mozilla Port Checked In

Friday August 20th, 1999

The initial work on the QT toolkit port of mozilla has been checked in. No screenshots yet, but this is a good first step. As you may recall, work was done porting to QT with the classic Mozilla code, but this work utilizes Gecko and the new codebase.

Thanks to Steve Morrison (from our chromeZone) and arielb for the news.

Every few months, a group of developers looking for something to do will bring up the topic of making mozilla a KOM/OP component. As of yet, I have not seen any code produced on this. I imagine as mozilla gets somewhat stable, that somebody will eventually stop talking and just do it.

Note that none of the core KDE developers are interested in doing so. Our own khtml library and the konqueror html component will be quite complete when finished.
