The State of MozillaThursday July 29th, 1999Mike Shaver of mozilla.org has written a State of Mozilla document that goes into detail about external developer contributions to Mozilla over the month of June. It contains quite a bit of good news, and attempts to counter some of the nonsense written up in the computer-industry press recently. Hopefully this will become a regular occurence. Why is the computer media downplaying Mozilla? I mean, if you read the technical aspects of the projects, they are about the most exciting things going. Netscape should have a big investment in Mozilla, after all, they are basing their next product on it. I think everyone will finally understand when Communicator 5 is released. All media does this sort of thing. Exaggeration annoys me, but its an unfortunate fact of life. The real tragedy is if anyone takes them seriously - which is why I think Mozilla.org needs a press relations department ;) Email notification of each new milestone to sites like CNet, with a charming message attached to the effect of "we're still heeeeeere! HAHAHAHAHA" Read the riveting commentary on slashdot: http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=99/07/29/1546211 |
