Will Navigator Get Its Own Dialup Service?

Wednesday May 19th, 1999

Joel Caris has this news:

"An interesting News.com article that talks about, among other things, possible plans to set up a Netscape Internet access service hooked into Navigator (although they already have something along those lines in place through Qwest.)

I also found interesting the fact that My Netscape is the most popular personal page service, with 55 million daily page views. I think I know why that is (open channel system.)"

#9 Not really, Dan

Dan:

The people using Netscape will be those who downloaded it ... assuming of course that the majority of people don't receive Netscape as a gift CD or something.

And the people who are curious enough to download and install should be tech-savvy (urgh, I hate that phrase, but it fits here) enough to change their homepage.

Your theory doesn't seem to stand up to scrutiny.

PS Actually I don't know if NS send out CDs. They don't send them to me. That could be because I live on the African continent....
