Will Navigator Get Its Own Dialup Service?

Wednesday May 19th, 1999

Joel Caris has this news:

"An interesting News.com article that talks about, among other things, possible plans to set up a Netscape Internet access service hooked into Navigator (although they already have something along those lines in place through Qwest.)

I also found interesting the fact that My Netscape is the most popular personal page service, with 55 million daily page views. I think I know why that is (open channel system.)"

Stephen,

I alluded to the Qwest service in my description. I actually tried to use that, but had trouble setting it up and ended up with a different service which I do not have to pay for, so I have never tried it again.

I think this article is talking about a whole other service. Maybe it would be through Qwest, maybe not. But I imagine it would be much more integrated into the browser and would probably focus more on giving you content through Netcenter, etc. A stronger push, essentially.

Anyway, it sounds interesting. I'll be keeping my eyes open for developments. In the mean time, still waiting for 5.0.
