Two Notes on the Mozilla Contest
Sunday May 16th, 1999
Two quick notes for those of you working on animations for the new Mozilla throbber contest. First, please don't create Netscape-themed animations. Since Netscape and Mozilla are technically two separate entities, we need to help maintain that division, which means that we can't be branding mozilla product with Netscape brands.
Second, feel free to make as many submissions as you like, as long as the content differs from animation to animation. Our rule against multiple submissions only applies to animations that are essentially just "variations on a theme": color variations, or a rearranging of content.
And don't forget to send your snail-mail address and T-Shirt size, in case you are one of our 20 finalists.

Quite frankly, I much prefer the NS 4.X 'look & feel' over anything that mozilla.org has shown so far... or IE, Opera, NeoPlanet, etc... for that matter.
In fact, the current UI leaves a lot to be desired.
I made a post some time ago asking if anyone knew the approximate percentage of Mozilla developers who come from the Unix camp... by looking at the current UI, I would have to guess that the majority of them do.

I wouldn't mind a NS 4.5 xul skin. Wouldn't that be easier than that activex stuff you're working on?

A NS 4.X style XUL interface would make a nice project in the future, but...
I started the NavX project because I wanted a *clean*, *fast*, and *stable* UI to test the rendering of Gecko in... the default UI is practically unbearable (to me at least) and hence I don't browse much with it.
The fastest code for a Win32 system is native Win32 code. XUL, unfortunatley, does not fit the bill for the performance I expect.
