Updated MozillaZine Chrome

Saturday May 8th, 1999

We have updated the MozillaZine chrome to work with M5, and hopefully beyond. It now includes a customized sidebar, and because the flash panels are not yet working, they were left out of this version. You must be connected to the Internet to use this version also.

It is located here and must be downloaded and renamed to navigator.xul, replace the navigator.xul in the res/samples/ directory with it. If you have questions or comments, just hit the talkback button and talk to us!

Also, Steve is hard at work at getting our new chrome area up and working. We'll let you know as soon as it's ready to go.

Mmmm... looks pretty cool, but it does need some work.

1. Having to be online isn't very good for offline testing, and having to connect to another resource while trying to load pages is a big hassle for those of us on dialups (snicker if you want, but not ALL of us have T3's, ya know).

2. Don't close the toolbars because you can't reopen them without shutting down and restarting Mozilla.

3. For some strange reason, while using the new chrome, a lot of images won't load.

These things being said, kudos are in order for the author(s). I LOVE the throbber, and just as soon as I can figure out how, I'm going to download those images and use them in place of the blue one, which (sorry!) I think is kinda lame.

I'm going back to the default chrome for the time being, but I'm eagerly looking forward to getting a *standalone* (i.e., not connection-dependent) version of this. (Hint, hint!)

Thanks -- everyone is doing a great job, and I appreciate it!
