#1 LinkToolbar install problems

When I try to install LinkToolbar, I get an error code of -239. I have version .6.1 currently installed, which I tried disabling, but that didn't help. Should I completely uninstall the old version before installing the new one?

Either complete uninstall, or extract linkToolbar.jar, and overwrite the version in chrome/.

One thing XPInstall doesn't do very well is upgrades : ]

I had to do a complete uninstall, otherwise it broke the browser (nothing showed up in the browser window, no buttons worked). Also, my bookmarks sidebar keeps going away everytime I close Firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8). I deleted my localstore.rdf, but that didn't seem to help. Any ideas?
