Test Build of Mozilla Thunderbird with Windows Installer Available
Sunday March 14th, 2004
tb wrote in to tell us that a new test build of Mozilla Thunderbird with an installer for Windows is now available. As well as providing a smoother setup experience for users, the installer also offers to set up the Offline Extension, which no longer needs to be downloaded separately. In addition, the installer registers Thunderbird as a mail and newsgroups client in the Windows Registry and also configures the program to handle the mailto, news, snews and nntp protocols. Scott MacGregor has posted more information about the experimental Thunderbird Windows installer build to the MozillaZine Forums.
The new Windows installer build is based on the same code as this week's standard test build, which includes junk mail detection improvements and support for the IMAP IDLE command. Read mscott's post to the Thunderbird Builds forum for more information about this week's release.
This is definitally a warm welcome to Thunderbird, and the new junk-mail-detection is AWESOME. I'm definitally getting around 90-95% correct scores now compared to 30->50% in the older versions.
Excelent work Scott!
It's great to hear that, installation-wise, Thunderbird is gettiing in line with Firefox.
Is this new algorythm also included in mozilla builds ?

The changes haven't been added to the trunk, once mscott feels comfortable with the new changes I assume he'll add it to the trunk. Since the seamonkey and thunderbird share the trunk code the changes will affect both products
Mozilla Thunderbird with installer existed for long time at Seb's site: <http://seb.mozdev.org>
Where's the news!!??

Thunderbird works great for me, if only the spam filters would be a bit more advanced... Just check out <http://www.spamihilator.com> this little app is the best spam filter I ever used. So many features! Any plans to make an extenstion with such features?
