Xm Virtual Machine Simulator 0.7.1 Released

Tuesday February 3rd, 2004

Ulrich Höhne writes in with news about version 0.7.1 of Xm, an XPCOM module for simulations: "Xm lets you build virtual machines made of electrical, logical and physical parts. The entire machine setup can be defined in an XML document." As well as the Xm module itself, sample configuration files are also available for download.

Thanks for an interesting plugin.

Could Xm be set up to simulate a turtle graphics system?

Hi Gary, you could do it with the aniParticle element, but it would involve additional programming on the JavaScript side to set the length of the walk (= stopping the turtle after n cycles) and for the drawing (generating dots along the moved line). For predetermined moves, see the 'Shuttle' sample. The shuttle moves from one station to another station using a route. The focus of Xm will be the simulation of logical and electromechanical parts (there's more to come!), the animations have been added for simple moving parts. Uli
