mozdev Seeking Mirrors

Tuesday January 20th, 2004

Brian King writes: "Due to increased project numbers, increased traffic and the fact that we had to stop using some existing mirrors, mozdev.org is seeking some volunteer hosting in the form of mirrors.

"The two main load areas that we need help with are file downloads (http://downloads.mozdev.org/) and the CVS respository. For more information on what is needed, please look at http://mirrors.mozdev.org/how-to-mirror.html."

Actually there is a need to install your preferred theme after each and every Mozilla installation, if you're doing things the recommended way. There's no need to install it from mozdev, unless the version you had is incompatible with your new mozilla version.

If you give people an easy option, and give them a harder option (downloading and install from the saved version) which isn't explained, people are obviously going to go for the easy option. To get people to download instead, it needs to be obvious how to install from the download, and the site needs to encourage them to do it that way.
