Full Article Attached New Windows Mozilla Sunbird Builds Available

Thursday January 15th, 2004

Simon Paquet has contributed some new Windows builds of Mozilla Sunbird, the standalone version of Mozilla Calendar. Read the full article for download links and release notes.

Update: You may have to copy the files msvcp70.dll and msvcr70.dll to the folder into which you installed Sunbird to get the program to run.

Another update: Simon Paquet writes: "As of now all the builds ship with the two missing dll files."

#1 MSVC 7

I know this has a solution, but I'd like to know if someone can point me in the right direction.

"This application has failed to start because MSVCR70.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I think the 7.0 Runtime is distributed in the MSVC7-compiled builds of Firebird. Could you do the same if you are going to use MSVC7?

Ya Mostafah, Ya Mostafah .. :-)

Nice try, i hope it will work, someday. No buttons in the toolbar are shown. I have downloaded the mossed DLLs, copied them into the sunbird directory, tryed once again. Same "problem". Than i tried to use it without the buttons shown in the toolbar. Typed in a url, pressed enter. No reaction. :-/ So o clicked on links in the startpage that will load after fresh installing. THAT works. Am i doing something wrong?

Did you start it with the -calendar argument?

When i start it like "d:\sunbird\mozillasunbird.exe -calendar" then only the calendar starts.

Sorry for not including the two dll files. As of now the packages have been updated and a separate download of the two dll files is no longer necessary.

What happened to the yellow Fb/Tb-style icon that was in an older build (published somewhere in the forums)? I've uploaded a copy (reshacked out of said build) to http://www.freewebs.com/mooquackwooftweetmeow/sunbird.ico Please include it as default, rather than the Mozilla dino-head!

#8 tray bar?

what is the advantage of Sunbird? It is exactly the same as Firebird with Calendar ... A great advantage will be the possibility to store Sunbird in the traybar ... --> it will be start at logon, and the alarm will works always. Now, the alarm comes only when sunbird is working ... --> same as Firebird running calendar ...

>what is the advantage of Sunbird?

Please keep in mind that at the moment Sunbird is still nothing more than a proof of concept. The application is in an experimental stage and not nearly as polished as Thunderbird or Firebird. The intent of these experimental builds is to show that there is progress in the sunbird development and to shape a community that will start to provide extensions, themes, bug reports, and of course patches.

#10 Importing tasks in Sunbird

I am using Mozilla calendar 2004010914-cal with Mozilla 1.6 on my desktop pc. It is my main calendar. I recently installed Sunbird on a laptop I use remotely. I successfully imported the CalendarDataFile.ics to Sunbird. All calendar data displays except the tasks. I can see the tasks text when I view CalendarDataFile.ics in Notepad. Am I missing a step that will allow tasks to be imported to Sunbird from this file?
