Mozilla Firebird Wins Browser of the Year in LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Awards
Tuesday January 13th, 2004
LinuxQuestions.org have announced the winners of their 2003 Members Choice Awards, with Mozilla Firebird coming top in the Browser of the Year poll. Firebird received 38.31% of the vote, ahead of the second-placed Mozilla Application Suite, which was the choice of 26.67% of the LinuxQuestions.org readership. Konqueror was third, backed by 13.56%, followed by Opera with 11.80%. The Mozilla-based Galeon, Epiphany and Netscape browsers finished in fifth (4.75%), sixth (2.68%) and seventh (1.15%) place respectively.
It doesn't surprise me at all that one of Mozilla or Firebird won, I think 73.56% is a very good sign, even on a small survey like this. Also remember there was no other option, so although the proportion of share between the browsers may be correct for the people who wanted to vote, the percentage will not be correct overall.
Konqueror did worse than I would have expected - when I've tried it I thought it was a nice browser, but I've never used it properly.
Is Galeon the 'official' browser on Gnome? If not, why is the official browser not listed?
