Polish Campaign Encourages Giving Mozilla CDs for Christmas

Tuesday December 16th, 2003

Gandalf writes: "Konrad Karpieszuk and Robert Kusmierz from the Polish Mozilla Society invented the Mozilla For Christmas project! They prepared a .iso CD image with the Mozilla Suite, Firebird and Thunderbird and started a big promotion in Poland for everyone to burn CDs to give as a gifts for Christmas. Information about this action was spread by big Polish tech sites like interia.pl, 7thguard.net and linuxnews.pl, which resulted in almost 2000 downloads of the .iso file in two days!"

I think anybody who gives somebody marginal freeware as a gift should receive a restraining order.

The Mozilla Suite (and its browser component) is a fine product -- and, of course, it would just accompany the presents I give. Now I could see, however, a restraining order being appropriate for those who wanted to give MSIE on a CD.

The ISO is 20 MB and includes Polish versions of Mozilla Suite 1.4.1, Mozilla Firebird 0.7, and Mozilla Thunderbird 0.3.
