When you take into account that Sun and Mozilla are going to combine eventually, it might make a little more sense then.

I don't understand..are there people at Sun working on getting mozilla to run on their servers, "workstations" and operating system software? Anyone building NGlayout? XP/Lesstif? Not according to tinderbox, bugzilla, <http://www.mozilla.org> - what is holding up Sun to contribute? Are they still looking for GTK? GTK 1.2 is out guys.

Navigator/Communicator, and thus Mozilla, is a great enabler for selling server solutions, since many customers wants to buy or get their client software from the same vendor as the server software/hardware.

For Sun it is essential to be able to offer both, and it is essential to be able to offer browsers on platforms Microsoft couldn't care less about

Thus, spending $30.000 on Mozilla, which is pocket change for Sun, is a cheap way of improving the total package Sun will offer customers that will be buying Suns or Netscapes enterprise software offerings.
