Mozilla Firebird 0.7 Most Wanted Forthcoming Mozilla Release

Monday October 13th, 2003

For our last poll, we asked you which forthcoming Mozilla release you are looking forward to the most. There were 6,442 responses, with a huge 55% going for Mozilla Firebird 0.7. Next up was Mozilla 1.5, which received 24% of the vote, followed by Mozilla Thunderbird 0.3, with 11%, and Camino 0.8, the choice of 4%. Just 3% of voters were most eagerly anticipating Mozilla 1.4.1, which is hardly surprising given that it's a minor update. Those 3% do not have to wait any longer though: Mozilla 1.4.1 came out a few days ago.

The famous about:mozilla Easter egg was updated recently, so we thought that now would be a good time to ask you to select your favourite verse from The Book of Mozilla. Maybe you like the original The Book of Mozilla, 12:10, which dates back to the days of Netscape Navigator 2.0. Perhaps you prefer The Book of Mozilla, 3:31 (Red Letter Edition), celebrating the open-sourcing of the Mozilla code. Or is the latest incarnation, The Book of Mozilla, 7:15, your choice? Cast your vote and check out the latest results to see which verse is the most popular option overall.

#2 The poll didn't have the option I wanted

In the absence of the option that I really wanted, I chose 1.4.1. I've got it installed and it seems very good. I crave stability and reliability first, not new features. Thus I don't feel the urge to use these work in progress builds so much anymore. What I really want are standalone browser and mail/news components (ala Firebird and Thunderbird) as a final releases and with all the functionality that I'm used to (e.g. according to prefs.mozdev.org, the XulPlanet's prefs bar doesn't work with newer Phoenix/Firebird builds).
