Mozedit 0.1 Alpha for Mozilla Firebird

Friday September 12th, 2003

Mark Bokil writes: "I wrote a Notepad-like text editor extension for Firebird. It provides easy editing access to userChrome.css and userContent.css files, buffers similar to Emacs, document history, UI font/color options, and in-line HTML rendering preview, plus access to the JavaScript Console. This is a 0.1 alpha release of Mozedit for Firebird. It currently has dependencies on JSLib. Give it a whirl and let me know what you think."

Works very well on Mac OS X (9/11/2003 build). I like the Render pane .. I could see using this as a tool to quickly prototype HTML, CSS.

Some suggestions/bugs: - Inherit default font preference from Mozilla/Firebird - Since Mac doesn't have an in-window menubar I don't see the additional controls and buttons that are on the Windows/Linux menubar. - Options dialog buttons are ordered wrong on Mac. the default is supposed to be on the right. - Recommend using the title bar for the file name. - Perhaps add an "Open in Mozedit" menu option to the browser for local files.
