Experimental Mozilla Sunbird Build Released for Windows

Sunday August 10th, 2003

On Thursday, the first experimental test build of Mozilla Sunbird for Windows was released. Previously, only Linux binaries of Sunbird have been available. Sunbird is a standalone version of Mozilla Calendar, similar to Mozilla Firebird (the standalone browser) and Mozilla Thunderbird (the standalone mail and newsgroups client).

Am glad Calendar has been ported as a standalone applicaion. Well done Mostafah and the rest of the developers at OEONE and others. Works fine for a 0.1 version.

But wow another bird and Mozilla is becoming an aviary (or a car dealer). Am not sure if there are any "bird" car left, so I propose Mozilla Hummingbird for Composer and Mozilla Rainbird for Chat.

BTW, Thuderbird is not using the standard convention of calling itself Mozilla Thunderbird. Is that a bug? It doesn't install by default in a Mozilla Thunderbird directory either. I think all Mozilla standalone apps should install in one directory called Mozilla with subdirectories named according to the distinct applications.
