Mozilla Firebird Makes Installing Additional Search Engines Easier

Saturday August 9th, 2003

eiseli writes: "Yesterday, August 8, Blake Ross checked in a long awaited feature: Up to now, it was quite hard to discover the Mycroft website in order to add custom search engines to the search box in Mozilla Firebird. With the checkin, a new menu item 'Add engines...' has been added after the installed plugins. This kind of bookmark will take you to the Mycroft download page. See a screenshot here: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/images/fbshot04.png."

This change is just one of many recent enhancements made to Mozilla Firebird recently. Look out for an article tomorrow examining some of the other highlights.

This is great, butr what I am waiting for is for the ability to search with more than one search engine at the same time as can be done in the Mozilla suite. I prefer to search using multiple engines at the same time. Since the Mozilla suite recognizes all my Sherlock search plugins on MacOS X I often search 50+ engines at the same time.

I am hoping this feature will come to firebird in the future (hopefully soon ;) ).
