Apprunner is Operational!
Tuesday January 26th, 1999
Mike Pinkerton of the XPFE group has written us to say that the new browser based around the XPFE and NGLayout has made its first steps towards life. To quote Mike, "AppRunner is up and running with toolbars instantiated from xul and working back/forward/home/stop buttons using the xptoolkit command architecture."
What does this mean? It means that the toolbars are starting to work within the application shell, they are instantiated via XML documents (XUL) and stylesheets, and their background code is created within the extensible cross platform backend they have developed.

Tops! Nice to see...
But even nicer are those window decorations! Now... when can my computer look like a Da Vinci drawing?
if you'll settle for Dali, and are willing to run Linux, probably right away. most of the screenshots i've seen of the "Enlightenment" window manager have been pretty surreal...
(some links: <http://e.themes.org/> one has screenshots galore, and <http://www.enlightenment.org/> is the official website not to be confused with the .com-domain site of the same name, which is all about hinduism or something.)
It's the "Drawing Board" theme that was designed by Apple Japan. If you've got a Mac running 8.5 and look around, you can find it...

I pulled and did an optimized build of Mozilla today (on Win 98). It built apprunner.exe, but when I moved it to dist\win32_o.obj\bin and ran it, it did nothing at all... not even the empty window that it used to. Where does it need to look for the XML components to get it started?

How did you get apprunner.exe to build? Did you have to modify any makefiles before building? If not, could you describe the steps you took to build it?
Cool, will this be availbe tonight in the Nightly Builds.
I also want to announce that there is a Windows 9x/Nt port for enlightenment. It still has a few problems and currently is being ported to the Win9x systems, but I heard its pretty good on NT. It's located at: <http://www.kjofol.org/e/>
