MozillaZine Pseudo-Forums Open Thread
Thursday May 1st, 2003
While we're working on getting the MozillaZine Forums restarted, here's an open thread. Use it to discuss all the things you would normally discuss in the forums. You'll need to have a MozillaZine member account to post, which isn't the same thing as a forums username. Remember that while you can't include HTML in Talkback posts, you can insert links by typing the full URL (e.g. http://www.mozilla.org/) surrounded by whitespace (i.e. don't put any punctuation straight after the URL). The Talkback software will eat single linebreaks; use double linebreaks to start a new paragraph.
And because this is just like the forums, the answers to the most frequently asked questions are: a) Create a new profile; b) Tabbrowser Extensions; and c) Because the page author didn't use Web standards.
#5 Missing the forums now.

Back when Asa was doing build reviews, the Mozillazine site was at least *useful* even without forums. Forums are terrific, sure, but the thing I've always used Mozillazine for most is seeing whether or not there's a recent nightly worth upgrading to. (I.e., to get nifty new features without completely hosing my system.) When those went away, at least you could use the forum to find that out.
So sans forums, sans build reviews... now we've got a host of news stories unlikely to be of interest to the average person, and not much else. Which is really sad. I hope the forums come back again soon.
