It's been a long and intense week since mozilla.org announced that the Phoenix browser has been renamed Firebird, to the dismay of much of the Firebird database community. In this interview with MozillaZine, Ann Harrison, an administrator of the Firebird database project and a partner in IBPhoenix, gives her thoughts on the dispute.

It would be very nice to believe that the Mozilla Drivers will do the right thing based on the facts and reasoning and communicating with the Firdbird people.
In fact, however, they have stonewalled the discussion. They made no attempt to contact Firebird before the name change was announced, and have made no attempt to talk since.
Their consistent attitude is "we've made the decision. Deal with it." In the meantime, they have started using the "tm" in conjunction with Firebird.
This is an attitude we would expect from AOL or Microsoft. It is not an attitude we expect from a democratically run open source project.
