Sounds like the whole perf thing is not as clear-cut in that comparison as it is when comparing Safari to Chimera (off the 1.0 branch) or Netscape 7 (1.0 branch) on a broadband in-lab connection... ;)"

Yes the footprint does increase, but with modern OS's modern memory management and memory chips being cheap, is this such an issue? It would be nice to get the size of the footprint down, but in the long run will the benifit be worth the effort? I have 256MB of memory on OS X 10.1.5 and rarely have a performance issue with Mozilla's footprint size.
