MozillaZine Channel Now Available on My Netscape!Tuesday December 22nd, 1998For those of you who use the My Netscape custom homepage, we have a treat for you. Seth Spitzer from Netscape has set up a mozillaZine channel that you can add to your My Netscape page right now (in advance of the general release). This channel isn't like the "Push" channels of Netcaster. It culls the latest headlines from mozillaZine and and places them (with links to the news items) within a box on your My Netscape page. To see the channel -- and add it to your page, if you wish -- click HERE. #1 Re:MozillaZine Channel Now Available on My Netscapby Seth Spitzer Tuesday December 22nd, 1998 6:58 PM I'm working on some other mozilla related channels. 1) bonsai channel (http://cvs-mirror.mozilla.org/webtools/bonsai/cvsquery.cgi?module=SeaMonkeyAll&branch=HEAD&branchtype=match&dir=&file=&filetype=match&who=&whotype=match&sortby=Date&hours=2&date=day&mindate=&maxdate=&cvsroot=%2Fcvsroot) 2) mozilla channel (http://www.mozilla.org/news.html) 3) tinderbox channel (http://cvs-mirror.mozilla.org/webtools/tinderbox/showbuilds.cgi?tree=raptor) 4) news://news.mozilla.org/netscape.public.mozilla.unix channel. The last one is the most interesting. I working on a generic way to turn any arbitrary newsgroup into a channel on http://my.netscape.com -Seth -- about:sspitzer #2 Re:MozillaZine Channel Now Available on My Netscapby George Greer Tuesday December 22nd, 1998 9:37 PM If you add a Slashdot channel, I'll have a new home page. :) (Found a FreshMeat one already.) It's already been added... see /. earlier Tuesday. #4 Re:MozillaZine Channel Now Available on My Netscapby George Greer Tuesday December 22nd, 1998 10:31 PM Oops, I feel dumb, missed that. Thanks. Two more questions, on your weather channel: 1) Could there please be an option to turn off the search? (Saves space for other stuff) 2) Where's Cincinnati, Ohio in the list? I can get it on a search and it's different than the "Covington - Cincinnati Metro" listing of KY. Oh well, no matter what you do, the weather still sucks currently. :) is there a page that has links to all of the new channels? #6 Re:MozillaZine Channel Now Available on My Netscapby Vicente Salvador Thursday December 24th, 1998 5:50 AM Great! It's fine because we can get all mozilla news without visit every hour your pages!
A www.linuxtoday.com channel. It has the most news related to Linux/Open Source out there, and they've been very reliable. Also, lwn.net/daily is a good thing to have as a channel. What would be REALLY cool would be to allow webmasters to generically define news pages of theirs so they can add their news pages to the Netscape site themselves. Netscape could even showcase the newest entries, and let people vote on the best ones. The best ones could then be added to the "official" list of news sites that is available to everyone. Maybe I'm just dreaming here, but this thing could be developed into something a lot bigger. mark, george: i'm a little bit confused: you're talking about some new channels - but how can we reach it? can you please give us any links or some hints? thanx hannes |
