Gecko Article at Red Herring's WebsiteWednesday December 16th, 1998Erik Arvidsson wrote in to mozillaZine to bring to our attention a Gecko article on Red Herring's website. The article complains about the fact that Gecko isn't RTOS (Real-Time Operating System) ready, and that Netscape seems to be going down a path that they already went down with Navio - a subsidiary that they merged last year with NCI (Oracle's Network Computer Inc. subsidiary). We at mozillaZine happen to think that Mozilla and Gecko are going to surprise a lot of people - especially when they see all the applications that spring up based around its open framework and extensibility. Now I know about Telecruz using gecko. cool The real holding item for cross-compiling to embedded systems is that NSPR is not autoconf'd and is thus a pain to build. <daydream> Raptor running ontop of RTEMS (an Open Source RTOS) on my Mot ColdFire based TV set.... It could happen ;) </daydream> |
