AutoScroll Extension for Phoenix and Mozilla
Tuesday December 17th, 2002
psykotik wrote in to tell us that skidooer, a regular at the Something Awful Forums, has written an AutoScroll extension for Phoenix and other Mozilla-based browsers. The extension works much like the AutoScroll feature found in several Windows applications, such as Internet Explorer: you click your mouse wheel and then move your mouse up or down to scroll the page. Moving further away from or closer to the point where you clicked the mouse wheel accelerates or decelerates the scrolling.
You can try the first release of AutoScroll for yourself but remember that it does have bugs (the most noticeable of which is the lack of a special mouse cursor). There's also no way to uninstall the add-on at the moment. skidooer has only tested AutoScroll in Phoenix on Windows though we were also able to get it working in the Windows versions of Mozilla and Netscape 7.01. More information about the extension can be found in a thread in the Phoenix Extensions forum.
UPDATE! Subsequent updates to AutoScroll will appear at autoscroll.mozdev.org.
