The Role of XUL in Rich Internet Applications

Tuesday November 26th, 2002

Faser writes: "Interesting discussion about Rich Internet Client Applications by Tim O'Reilly and others. Gerald Bauer wrote a comment talking about SVG and the XUL revolution." The discussion starts off with the concept of the browser as a platform but soon turns into a debate about the merits of Flash. Still an interesting read though.

Gerald Bauer runs The Richmond Post, a news site about XUL. He also heads the development of Luxor, an open-source XUL toolkit in Java.

UPDATE! Thanks to eiseli for informing us that the link to Gerald Bauer's comment did not work (it has now been removed). Use the 'Post your comments here and read what others have to say' link at the bottom of the article to access Gerald's (and other readers') comments.

I'm curious why the 1.0 branch is going to be so long lived. Are the 1.X branches that less stable, especially considering all the addtional fixes they'll have had since 1.0 branched?
