Nightly Builds Starting Up Again!

Wednesday December 2nd, 1998

Nightly builds have started up again (only for Linux and Win32 at this point). We will have a new fetchBuilds page going up shortly, but for now you can get your fix with this file (for Linux), and this file (for Win32).

Thanks to Greg Hayes and Jeremie for the info.

Stuart, I believe the linux build still has the debugging symbols in tact (it is not stripped). I'll be posting a small binary here: <http://pimpmaster.org/~simeon/mozilla> as soon as it is close to being remotely stable.

Its still a pre-alpha I believe it can get bigger or smaller before the final product. But just think mozilla supports a lot more standards than opera.

Anyone get the Linux version to work? It says the img lib has some unresolved symbols.

I'm using GTK 1.0.x, Kernel 2.1.131.

Yep, that's the problem. You're using GTK 1.0.x - you need 1.1.5 (the latest, whatever it is). Upgrade your GTK and you should be fine.

Does anyone know how to get the current Mozilla Win 32 build to connect via a HTTP proxy. Alternativly, are there any third aprty packages which will take requests on port 80 and redirect them?. Thanks.

Only probs are I need GIMP. So upgrading right now is not possible.

I can't wait til things stablize. Maybe I'll try the CVS GIMP one day soon. I dunno, it looks rather neat.

Time to try the Win32 Mozilla under WINE ;-) Maybe I'll have better "luck".

Code Red,

My linux builds from the Fetch Builds section are statically linked with gtk1.1.5 - no need to upgrade. (shameless plug)

The new builds are pretty insane - they go oh so very fast. But I have a request for the Netscape people.

When the browser is loading up a new page, it looks as though it's frozen since the screen and the Netscape icon do not move at all. If you could keep the Netscape icon animating and maybe just blank out the screen, that might give the illusion that it's going even faster. Just a thought anyway.
