Adding Pop-up Blocking to Netscape and Spell Checking to Mozilla
Tuesday October 8th, 2002
In response to feedback to its recent Mozilla 1.0 and Netscape 7.0 reviews, eWeek has published an article that explains how to add features from one browser to the other. It describes how to use Mozilla's Software Installation feature to quickly restore pop-up blocking to Netscape 7.0 or add Netscape's spellchecker to Mozilla.

I'm glad that this article finally gets around to correctly describing the pop-up blocking feature, and how it works. In PC Magazine, CNET and other places, they've been incorrectly saying that unchecking the "Open Link In A New Window" box was how you blocked pop-up ads, which is incorrect (All that does is prevent a link clicked on a web page from opening into another window). You have to uncheck the "Open Unrequested Windows" box to do that. Having both unchecked, though, is even better, and gives users a better browsing experience. I wonder why they didn't mention that? Those people definately dropped the ball on this one.
