Mozilla aims for Guinness World Record

Mozilla is aiming for a new Guinness World Record for the most downloads in 24 hours. Spread Firefox is running a drive to download Firefox 3 on launch day.

At this time, over 800,000 people have pledged to download Firefox 3 to help set the Guinness World Record.

In the past the last RC would just become the final install with no download. While I can understand this from a programming and bandwidth perspective. It is the same exact build as Final but if they want to do everything they can to make that record all the FF3 RC2 user should be given a FF3 Final update.

As I understand it, most people would not be upgrading from Firefox 3 RC2 to Firefox 3 final. They would be upgrading from Firefox 2.0.0.14 or Windows Internet Explorer 7 to Firefox 3 final.

Yes I understand that but it would help the stats to have the early adopters in on that list as well. FF3 RC2 entirely coopted my FF2 install. It looks and acts like FF3 final instead of the beta's that ran side by side.
