RC2 release notes says:

Released: June 4, 2008

Help/About says:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0

So which is it--June 4 or May 29?

Typically, a candidate build will be created and tested for a few days. If that build is solid, it is released -- but the UA string will still contain the original build date.

I can't find the meeting notes right now, it's on the wiki, but it does show that RC2 was built last month.

I've been having a problem with YouTube since the upgrade to RC2. It keeps saying I need Flash installed. I even disabled all my plug-ins (usually I get that warning when NoScript has blocked content). Is anyone else having this problem?

Go to Adobe's flash player download page and manually install the thing. I think it's a known bug.

OK. I started a new profile and installed flash manually from adobe. It's working now.

#6 Flash Player 9.0r124 working with YouTube & FF RC2

that's strange, CabeBedlam. I just upgraded from Firefox 3.0 RC1 to RC2, viewed a bunch of YouTube videos and Flash Player IS working. perhaps NoScript is blocking the youtube.com and ytimg.com sites when they should NOT be doing so. UNblock the youtube.com AND ytimg.com sites from NoScript (select "Allow youtube.com" and "Allow ytimg.com" from the NoScript dialog box when clicking on its "S" icon) to make Flash Player work on the Youtube site in FF3. And be sure you are using Flash Player version 9.0 R124 which is the latest version available.

btw - I'm using FF3 RC2 under Vista Home Basic Edition SP1 and XP Home Edition SP3

#7 Firefox 3.0 rc 1 and 2 won't allow .exe downloads

by jman

I have tried everything to get Firefox 3.0 rc1 and 2 to download .exe files. I enabled permissions for sites on my firewall and also in Firefox. When I downloaded each of the release candidates, I freshly installed them after COMPLETELY uninstalling previous versions. I've turned off Firefox's scanning ability and also turned off my anti-virus and anti-spyware on my security suite. Still no dice. I don't know what else to do. Any help would be appreciate, otherwise, what's the use of having a browser that can't download files???

Have you tried a new profile?

Yes I have...everytime I go to a new version or reinstall Firefox, I ALWAYS clear everything of Firefox out of my application data, program, and prefetch folders, along with also making sure it's all out of my registry. So I'm at a loss of what to do now, I even tried turning of Zone Alarm Security Suite to make sure it wasn't causing conflicts, but still no dice.

If you haven't already, create a new profile manually.

I vaguely recall having such a problem in the past. It may have to do with a faulty entry in Windows file association. Look in Windows Explorer...Tools...Folder Options...File Types.

Have you tried the forums? There are more people who can help you there.
