Mozilla Splash Generator for Mac OS X
Sunday July 7th, 2002
Jake Thompson writes: "Mac OS X users can now enjoy changing the splash screen of Mozilla, just like Windows users. Mallet and Bare have released a program called Mozilla Splash Generator, which modifies Mozilla's resource fork to change the splash screen. This site will probably go over the bandwidth limit, so a mirror has been created."
A fine selection of splash screens can be found at mozdev. And in case you've forgotten, you can change the splash screen on Windows by placing an image named mozilla.bmp in your Mozilla program folder. Linux users have to recompile.

Get rid of the splash screens already! All they do is reinforce that mozilla is a giant piece of bloatware, not a lean, high performance browser. Does IE have a splash screen? Didn't think so. Is there a single person involved in this project that thinks about important attributes like performance, foot-print, standards and stability rather than useless garbage like skins, splash screens, mail, news, chat and compose?
