Mozilla 1.0 Release Party

Thursday June 13th, 2002

The Mozilla 1.0 Release Party was held last night at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. If you didn't make it, take a look at these pictures, courtesy of burtonator. Of course, the party in San Francisco wasn't the only celebration to mark the release of 1.0; hundreds of other parties took place all over the world and there's pictures from several of these events up on the Web too (and they're still looking for more). If all this celebrating has put you in the party mood then hurry over to the Mozilla 1.0 Party Locator and find an event that's yet to be held.

UPDATE! Here's some photos of the party at Remote in New York City.

ANOTHER UPDATE! More pictures of the San Francisco party can be found here and here.

I think this party was scheduled near the same time as the "AOL 8 is Using Internet Explorer" party.

Is that party being held at the Flamebait lounge on Troll street?

Predicting what will be in a final release of commerical software based on a Beta is risky, so it's a bit premature to speculate on which HTML engine will be in the Gold release. AOL has gathered data on Gecko allready, and they may have enough to decide if it will be in 8.0 Gold this fall. This Beta is concerned with testing Broadband access for AOL. The IE engine provides a better control for testing the Broadband optimizations because it can be compared with current AOL software's performance without having the results skewed by a different rendering agent.

I'll do the same thing I did when the Gecko in the 7.0 Beta was announced, wait and see what's in the final release instead of acting like it's a done deal.

#3 So I didn't wear my Moz t-shirt...

I needed to do my laundry. :-) I had a lot of fun there, especially as I gave aruner and pschwartau two copies of my book. I hear aruner was showing it off to everybody...
