Netscape's Smart Download Released

Wednesday November 18th, 1998

Joel Caris writes in to say, "Netscape SmartDownload has been released. This is the Netscape plugin that lets you pause and resume downloads."

Editor's Note: I downloaded it, and tried installing it with the browser (4.5) open and with the browser closed. I wasn't able to get SmartDownload to do anything... I went to Netcenter, tried downloading files from different areas, and got the same old download process dialog box. If anyone manages to get this to work, tell us what you did!

I hate advertisements, and I hate even more people who want to constraint me to see them (this ad window is unclosable unless the download is over). This smartdownload is like junk mail in my download window !

Since two years now, people from marketing of everywhere have been poluting the net. They really need to be taught the meaning of the word "respect". The respect of a fabulous media that was given to us, and the respect of the people who use it. It seems some people at Netscape have been loosing their respect.
