Netscape's Smart Download Released

Wednesday November 18th, 1998

Joel Caris writes in to say, "Netscape SmartDownload has been released. This is the Netscape plugin that lets you pause and resume downloads."

Editor's Note: I downloaded it, and tried installing it with the browser (4.5) open and with the browser closed. I wasn't able to get SmartDownload to do anything... I went to Netcenter, tried downloading files from different areas, and got the same old download process dialog box. If anyone manages to get this to work, tell us what you did!

Yes, Linux already has this. In fact, the Linux version really kicks as it has WAY more features (such as recursive gets, etc) to boot.

The Linux version is called "wget". *grin*
