Actually branches arn't bleeding edge, the trunk is. Here is how it works. Trunk opens for new code (bleeding edge)Trunk gets closed to all but bugfixes, branch gets cut (stabilization happends on the branch) at the same time trunk is reopen to new bleeding edge code for the the milestone after the branch milestone, new code won't get put in the branch, any bugfixes that get put in branch also get put in trunk if at all possible. Milestone gets released from branch, repeat.
