Friday February 8th, 2002

Asa Dotzler writes: "mozilla.org is planning two developer events in the next couple of months. These are great oportunities to learn more about the Mozilla code and development process and to meet the people that make Mozilla happen." Click the full article for more info.

Also, James "Kovu" Russell has posted some pictures from the developer day that was held at Netscape's campus in Mt. View last November.

Asa looks completely different to how I expected.

Maybe he would look more like you pictured without the beard... http://meetzilla.mozdev.org/pictures/second_gallery_one/22.html

Nope. Not even close. When I say I was off. I was off :)

#11 YOU were off!

I used to think he was a woman, dunno why (and no offense intended). I guess I just hadn't heard the name before.

Dunno what was in my image of 'her', but it certainly wasn't a beard.

No, I expected him to be about that age (his Slashdot profile http://slashdot.org/~asa/ says he's 27) but with less facial hair.

I like that. And I hate neck ties.

I think he used to go beardless. If you take a look at his chatzilla photo he looks pretty different. He's way different than I expected, a lot more humble and a bit less sarcastic than he can come across on the forums. Really nice guy IMHO.

To be honest, I personally felt a bit insulted after his overreaction in the past (related to Modern Theme bug 78221 and the overloading of Bugzilla because of useless comments). After a while I started to understand him to some extent (digging into the botomless pit of unconfirmed bugs helped a lot).

I am also able now to undestand the delicate situation in which the drivers and other Mozilla people always are. Not sure exactly who of them are paid for their work but that doesn't matter. There are nice people everywhere that I enjoyed co-operating with (Alex Bischoff is one of them) or just reading their opinions. On the other side trolling and bitching for the work of the others is what I hate most.

Hey thanks. Hopefully I'll get more next time. I bought my digital camera the night before these were taken, so I was just gettin' used to it. :)

Hey! That's not "anon". That's Marcio Galli! (the guy who did all those kickass layer demos when Netscape first premiered layers. that shit was cool!). How could you not recognize him? ;-) He's now a part of the Mozilla (and Netscape) web standards evangelism team.

#5 Where are the pics from the 1st one?

Remember the one back a couple years ago? I still have my t-shirt(s) and everything...

I was really surpised by how many people showed up for that. How many people are expected at this years?

It was cool to put names to faces there too.

Ah, memories.

Eh, so what if Netscape is the big contributor and obviously the big beneficiary of Moz work? All I care is what the output is and that they still use the big green Moz internally at least :)

#15 I feel too old for this shit :-)

by dipa

These guys look 10-15 years younger than me (37 years old). Climbing rocks, driving enduro and dual sport bikes and most of all, using Mozilla and Bugzilla: I need some psychotherapy, soon. That kind of activities might irreversibly affect my mental health :-)
