Mozilla Developer DayThursday October 11th, 2001mozilla.org announced today that they will be hosting another developer day for those interested in contributing to Mozilla. Traditionally, developer days have been a chance to meet people who you only know from bugzilla and IRC, and to learn more about mozilla.org processes and the Mozilla code base. It will take place on November 9 at Netscape's Mountain View campus in California. Is there any chance that the content of these discussions will be transcribed and posted somewhere so that those of us who can't get to Mountain View can at least know what happened? I feel that making this information globally available is extremely important for the Mozilla community. Textual transcriptions, notes taken during the talks, or even compressed audio recordings would be fantastic. I sent in a request asking for exactly that. In the beginning there was talk about videotaping the early developer meetings, but That never came to fruition. It would be great for that to happen so people can find out what's happening in Mozillaland This will probably sound really stupid or something, but it's worth a shot. Have, on the same day and same time, a Developer Day conference on the other side of the continent (perhaps in Toronto) and have it set up that the people at the two different sites can still meet each other and everything like that. While out there they will be having late lunch, we can have a brunch out here in the eastern TZ. It would be 8am-2pm here, and there are a number of good spots to hold it at. Many of us can't make it all the way to Mountain View, and end up unhappy because the people who can get to have all the fun. Audio could certainly be managed. Perhaps even video too, but that's a bit harder (and wouldn't actually add much.) Transcription is a lot of work, so it's unlikely that would happen. Gerv Great! Someone email me an eticket and I'll be there. :) In the past, it's also served as a good place to meet people with job openings working with mozilla.org technologies. I'll take anything in the Seattle area that lets me work part time until I'm done with school. Well, almost anything, but you get the picture. My Mozilla work is here: http://segment7.net/mozilla/mozilla.php3 Any chance of a Mozilla event in the UK or Europe? There was one about a year ago: http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=1663 maybe getting in touch with http://www.formatvorlage.de/mozine/ might be a good place to start organizing one.
