Access-Mozilla

Wednesday November 29th, 2000

Aaron Leventhal writes in with news of the new "Access-Mozilla" project:

"The Access-Mozilla project page is now up.

"We have several goals:

1) To build an accessible web suite for persons with disabilities: browser, email, news, composer and chat.

2) To develop Mozilla's XUL into a language for writing cross platform, accessible, networked applications. We'll do this by modifying the core XBL widgets to directly support access methods.

3) To use the resulting cross-platform toolkit to write efficient, networked, accessible productivity apps.

"The access-mozilla site on sourceforge contains more detailed information about the project. I'll be in Mountain View to work on the project in December and January. Feel free to contact me if you have any interest in the project."

#1 The "access-mozilla" page links are unaccessable!!

This sounds like an interesting project but perhaps the announcement came too soon. The front page is up but all the links give the error: MySQL Connection Failed: Lost connection to MySQL server

The irony of this is pretty clear :)

It's a bug in sourceforge. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Not sure when they're going to fix it for me. Seems to work better during daylight hours (U.S. time).
