David Hallowell writes, "There are some screenshots of the Mozilla based Jabber instant messaging client over at JabberCentral. From what I can gather you can run the client in the sidebar or its own window a lot like the AIM client in Netscape 6."

The Jabber presence architecture doesn't allow for invisible users that can see other users' presence. You can, however, send an unavailable presence and the server will notify everyone that you are offline. You won't be able to receive new presence updates (so you can't see when your friends change status - they basically get frozen), but it looks to them that you are offline. This is not something that will be fixed because invisible status is an insecure method of presence.
