Two More Pieces on Netscape 6 PR1Tuesday April 18th, 2000We have two more pieces on Netscape 6 PR1 for you. The first is a piece at WebTools, and the next, an evaluation by Rob Valliere. The WebTools article is the second article I've read so far that said that there are two more beta releases left before final. Is this true? Was this mentioned in a press release or the Preview Release media conference? <:3)~~ Not that I know of. It would be nice though. PR2 for full featured (real themes!!). PR3 for full optimization and more usability testing? Will M16 be fully standard compliant in all ways with HTML4 DOM1 CSS1 XML1 ? that doesn't sound right. especiallt since this is a DR and nto a true Beta. I like both articles except for one thing at the bottom of the first page on the WebTools article. "The manual uninstall requires what, for all but the more advanced and expert users, are some tricky file manipulations." What? Is deleting so hard? many windows users have written in various newsgroups that NS6PR1 creates lots of "registry keys"... but i can't confirm this as i'm not a windows user. That doesn't sound right, installing Netscape 6 PR1 only creates a Netscape 6 directory for the program files, a Users50 directory for the profile, and mozregistry.dat. From what I know Moz doesn't even write to the registry, and it's not unusual for a program to leave registry keys behind after uninstalling. <:3)~~ Another one here (surprisingly positive) at http://www.winmag.com/reviews/software/2000/04/0410_a.htm I wonder if these NS 6.0 PR1 review sites are going to re-review PR2, PR3 and the final in as much detail ? Shame on them if they don't.... As for Mozilla M15, anyone actually seen even a mention of its release (other than here and Slashdot) ? |
