Article on Mozilla at the German Magazine "Java Magazin"

Saturday April 15th, 2000

Claus Augusti writes, "This article by me was published hard-copied and online in April 2000 in the German 'Java Magazin'. There was a special about open-source projects like Mozilla and Apache. As far as I know this is the first full-length article about Mozilla in German speaking languages."

Claus has also expressed interest in doing a German translation of MozillaZine. I know that a number of people have expressed interest in this in the past, but it never materialized. If you are interested in helping maintain a German translation, please contact Claus.

The article goes very deep for a general coverage of Mozilla. Unfortunately, some of the infos are not correct to my knowledge. The corrections:

- I hope, ns6 will *not* branch forever. This would mean a turning back from open-source and makes no sense to me. - Final is due in fall, not summer (at least, that's NS's current plan) - SeaMonkey = core + browser + Mailnews + chat app - Mailnews is *not* based on grendel. In fact, most 4.x and Mozilla Mailnews developers hardly ever worked on Grendel. - Jazilla != Mozilla port (if I'm right) - M14 != Mozilla beta - IDL interfaces are not necessarily sriptable - Do Java apps have access to XPCOM? - I doubt, that Linux is behind is point of browsers
