Reminder: the Code Rush documentary is on tonight!Thursday March 30th, 2000Tonight at 10pm PBS is airing the "Code Rush" documentary, which follows Mozilla's first year of development. Check your local listings for times in your area. You can get more info at the Code Rush website and at PBS.org. It's on at 2am in my area! Guess I'll have to set the VCR! ...or at least I can't find the listing. This sucks, its on at 4:30 AM on saturday and 1:00 AM Sunday April 6th 8Pm here (Toronto - WNED in Buffalo) http://www.wned.org/Television/april/6ML.html It's so cool to see them scroll by bugzilla and the tinderbox, and I can say: I've used those tools, I've helped mozilla! :) Whew, that's a nice documentary! Amongst other things, it's interesting to actually see the people that pushed Mozilla out (oh, so that's what Jim Roskind looks like :) ) and stuff like that. Good stuff. a bit dated, a bit sad, a bit inspiring. I wish I could make that STINKING party. GRRRRRRR. Well I'm not in the US. I wonder if it will air over here in Australia, or in other countries? Ok, just watched Code Rush and most enjoyed getting a chance to see what life is like at Netscape. This documentary has refueled my dislike for MS. Bill G. sounds like such a jerk talking about how Netscape failed because they weren't "innovative". No. Maybe they just didn't have the ability to leverage their monopoly to force themselves to the top of the browser market!!!! Hey are all these people gonna be at the Moz party this Thursday? I would like to meet everyone. I really liked this documentary and it had some really good bits, but the thing that really gets me is not any of the actual content which I now have sitting on a crappy tape on extended play mode but that I can't order a DVD of it. I know this is a fickle thing and detracts nothing from seeing the actual movie, but you would think PBS could make DVD's and charge $40 for them or something. I would gladly pay. It was cool to see all the stuff that went on and to see the environment at netscape and the bit about pavlov was really interesting, but it was missing a sense of closure. It was kind of like the ending of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, albeit it made much more sense. I would really like to see it, but that will take months, if not years, if it will ever shown at all over here in Germany. And PBS only sells the video inside USA and Canada !!!!! GRRRRR!!!! I managed to tape it last night with my crppy antenna. When, I go back to work next week I'll see if I can make some RealVideo clips of it It was an hour so I'll try to break it up into a couple of files. That is unless I just grab clips. Of course this all depends on if the computer w/ RealProducer is working. Damn Dells. Anyone know if it is going to be shown in the Phila area at all? I can't find it on the search function of my cable box :( Failing that, anyone feel like dubbing it onto a VHS tape if I send you one? ;) Stuart. I just found my companies side bar in mozilla! I didn't even know we had one - and its programmed by the guy who sits beside me :) Code Rush will be seen on Tuesday April 4, 2000 at 11:00pm on Maine PBS see http://www.mpbc.org/TV/schedule/TVSched1.html#04 woohoo!.... I hope I don't forget! ;-) |
