Mozilla in BusinessWeek

Friday February 11th, 2000

There's a brief mention of Mozilla in the Daily Briefing at BusinessWeek Online. It mentions the Intel Web appliance, but also touches on ongoing work with other browsers, such as Opera.

Opera: * is small * is there (for BeOS) * is good

There is no need for hating all other browsers. Opera is actually a good browser, and Opera Software remains committed to producing standards compliant browsers. (4.0 will support CSS-2, XML and more, Linux Alpha available). Competition is good. Competition makes us all work a little bit harder to get great innovative features included in our browsers. Opera currently supports Web page magnification, link-to-link, element-to-element and headline-to-headline keyboard navigation. It also has some other features Mozilla doesn't currently have. Instead of looking upon Opera as a commercial browser and a bad thing, we should look at Opera and see if there's some functionality in it that we should try to include into Mozilla as well. That's the way we're going to win, not by running around saying stupid things about our competition.
