Official M12 to Appear This Morning, Sparc Solaris Version Already Available
Tuesday December 21st, 1999
The official M12 release is set to occur sometime this morning (we'll let you know when it appears), but in the meantime the first builds have appeared based on what should be the final M12 code. Roland Mainz writes,
"The _first_ binary package is available: M12 Solaris 2.7 SPARC build is available including MathML, OJI (JAVA) and IRC (chat) - from here." A post to the mz talkback forums advises, "Please download it ASAP because our Sun cluster is shut down from 22.12.1999 18:00h MET until 2.1.2000 15:00h MET..."
Also, Chris Blizzard of Red Hat writes in to say that there are also M12 RPMs available for Red Hat for Intel, Sparc, and Alpha architectures. You can download them here. Click the "software" link at the bottom of the page.

slashdot effect I'm sure. they posted notice of impending M12 release builds and lots of people are trying to get what isn't yet there.
the /. comments are pretty good this time. while i generally don't give a s@#t what most posters have to say there, it's a good sign I guess when they respond so positively.
