You can check out http://www.zope.org Zope is an application server, which means that instead of creating a web site with a bunch of HTML template files or static pages, and hacking together a bunch of scripts, everything is integrated into Zope's object oriented web-based development environment.

Currently with Zope, you edit your web site through the web browser. This gives you the advantages of giving different people access to different parts of the site, and those people can easily edit the site from any web browser. The disadvantage to this editing a site through web-based forms is not always the most productive. If this initiative takes off, Zope will offer everything that expensive application servers like Cold Fusion does (only in Open Source environment, which is great when you want to extend your site in ways that the creators of the application server never thought of), with the added benefit of being able to edit your site from anywhere.
