Webmail
One thing that would get large numbers of people to switch to this email client would be support for webmail.
The <b>only</b> reason I use Outlook Express is because of my Hotmail accounts.
I have downloaded the IzyMail program that allows me to access my webmail from Mozilla Mail, but that's a poor workaround as it is not free.

You could try this
Here's an open-source program for checking webmail by using POP3 emulation:
http://mrbook.org/mrpostman/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mrpostman/
It's written in Java. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but I suspect many of the problems are from the webmail companies redesigning their websites. It's only been around for a few months and the developers are still producing new builds. (In fact, 1.0RC5 just got released a few days ago and I need to download it and see how it's changed.)

Email Prompter at www.eprompter.com will access Yahoo in the same way that it can access any POP3 mail service. They're working on doing the same for Hotmail.

At the Command prompt (or in a batch file) type:
Code: Select all
c:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\bin\java -jar InstallerMrPostman-1.0RC5.jar
where "c:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\bin" is the path to where your Java is installed. If you don't have Java installed, download it from www.sun.com.

yahoopops and pop peeper
i've used yahoopops (a windows program based on the fetchyahoo perl script for *nix) and it is coming along (still not quite perfect
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/yahoopops
someone in another thread mentioned http://www.poppeeper.com/
i've never used it, but i think it's just for accessing your mail, not accessing your mail in any email client.

brew,
Are you able send & receive your Yahoo mail using TB & YahooPops? My pop mail works fine & I'm able to receive my Yahoo mail but I can't get TB to send my Yahoo mail, no matter what I put under "SMTP Settings". I was able to send & receive in Eudora without any troubles.
Everytime I try to send my Yahoo mail I get the following error message from TB & I know my email address is correct.
Code: Select all
An error occurred sending mail. The mail server responded: sorry, your mail was administratively denied. (#5.7.1). Please verify that your email address is correct in your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again.
I'll try asking in the YahooPops forum too as soon as I get a chance.
Also, another minor problem. When I click the Get Mail button, it only checks the mail for the account that is selected under Folders, not both accounts like when TB starts up.
