Why the 'communist' theme?
Hey all, I've noticed that - while the name 'Mozilla' comes from the old Japanese monster (and Mosaic browser) - the Mozilla Organization tends to use "Communist" style lettering and script. For instance, Gecko (the lizard in the logo) is now often red-colored and/or framed in a red star. That star is also often used as a mini-logo for Mozilla too (see the blimp in the forum for an example). Furthermore, the "revolution" font used for the logo seems to suggest the communist revoltion of so-long-ago. I wonder why about fasination with Soviets. Is this an "in-joke" of the Mozilla developers? Are they all socialists? (Not that I have anything personally against socialists.)

It seems it is what it is, and I don't think mozilla.org will ever change it.
It looks preaty good I am not sure if it was first thought to be this way, but anyhow it looks good.
Maybe its time some communist took over the other communist (Microsoft).
Communism is a good idea just implamented wrong by power hungry people, I gess you can call them dictators.

please, do not waste everybody's time with this. If you are dumb enough to feel offended by "communist Mozilla" do me the favor, pick up your favorite capitalist browser and GO AWAY.

Sorry...
Everyone, I'm sorry for posting this redundant thread. I wasn't aware that this has been discussed before, and I don't want to start a flame-war. I have nothing against the logos (in fact, I kinda like them, and I think they're funny), but I just realized the theme. Oh well...
FOR THE REVOLUTION!!! (just kidding

birds
Sort of unrelated blurb here, but I'm not really concerned with the political alignment of mozilla's developers. It works, I don't think I'm imagining that it's faster than IE, and that's the name of that tune.
The birds on openoffice's logo are seagulls I think; they could also be osprey or albatross, but I think they're gulls. Someone on their development team must live near an ocean.

Not necessarily. They may have just seen a seagull in a movie or on the internet.
