Post by Blake »

0.5 will be released sometime next week. Here are the pending issues:

- Fix for the Flash crash (the bug has a patch).
- Need to change the name.
- Need to fix View > Character Coding > Autodetect
- Need to fix Get New Themes / Get New Extensions links in Preferences

Stay tuned!

So what name/s are the developers leaning towards?

There are tons in the name thread.

Is the browser formerly known as phoenix going to have a default UI change as well or is that for a later milestone?

I second that. I love the name 'Phoenix' and don't see anything remotely wrong or inappropriate about it. What's prompting the name change?

So many Phoenixes

Blake

Don't cave in to tose guys. With so many SOFTWARE sites out there with the Phoenix name, Phoenix Technologies has no broad claim to the name.

Let's keep it.

There's already a thread for discussing the name.

http://www.mozillazine.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=291

I didn't see anything in Blake's message that said something about a new name in this thread.

Having a fairly uncommon first name, I sure wouldn't want people to judge me by my name. I'd still like my favourite browser to have a good name that fits its functionality well. 'Phoenix' really sounds excellent...

I think the name is great but... if they change it they change it... not much that we can really do about that...
