Mouse Gestures and 0.5

Post by myklgrant »

I have been using 0.5 (linux) and have found that the autoentry feature when highlighting a (text) URL and middle clicking interferes with using the middle button for mouse gestures. Some gestures refuse to work all the time and often the browsing history is mixed up. For instance gesturing for home (DURD) sometimes brings up the page of a just closed tab. Gesturing for back (L) gives the Stopped indication. The browser buttons work fine so I assume its a MozGest bug/interaction. I've gone back to 0.4 because it was just too frustrating. Anyone else have similar problems? Who to file the bug report to Phoenix or Mozgest?

Jupp, same problems for me.
I noticed that google.com is contacted when middle clicking on some marked text. Then the first search result is opened. Very annoying :/

After searching the forums and bugzilla I found a solution:

add 'user_pref("middlemouse.contentLoadURL", false);' to your user.js file and the old behavior will be restored.

Thank-you for the info. I'm on to 0.5 then.
