Independent Status Reports (25 April, 2004)

Mouse Gestures — have you ever used them? Well now is your chance. mozdev.org hosts not one but two excellent gestures projects. The first, Optimoz Mouse Gestures, is featured in this report. Second is easyGestures for Firefox, in focus as mozdev Featured Project at the moment. Be sure to check it out.

LookAhead — v0.1

(Uses Google web service to fetch URLs in multiple tabs)

This is my initial report, so it might not be top-notch...

Although my project is new, I have worked on and off on it for over 4 months.

Notable Highlights

  • Got acclimated with the project environment
  • Built up the project in its old form
  • Added to Google Toolbar!

Upcoming Features

  • Improved code checked in — need to build and test XPI file from it
  • Add to context menu selection a la Dictionary Search and Web Search
  • Add configuration for how many pages to return and adult content

Dictionary Search — v0.5.1

(Looks up or translates words in a Web page or an email using an online dictionary)

Dictionary Search 0.5.1 has been released on the 17th of March. It fixes the fact that the help dialog wasn't shown in version 0.5.

OneClick Sidebar

(The "many applications in one" bar)

The content of the sidebar has been updated as well as a few bug fixes. A new version of the in-build HTML editor is also expected with some new features.

Notable Highlights

  • Many different programs in one sidebar.
  • Works on any OS or mozilla browser.
  • Does not have to be downloaded to your computer.

Mouse Gestures — v0.4preview 2004-04-16

(Elegantly control your browser by drawing gestures)

The Optimoz team has released a new nightly build of its popular Mouse Gestures extension for Mozilla 1.x/Firefox.

Changes include:

  • Improved "Gesture Guide" Sidebar with a context menu to change the sort order or view a history of issued gestures
  • Sidebar support for Firefox (drag the MozGest button to your toolbar, or use View->Sidebar)
  • Improved right mouse button support on Mac OS X and OS/2
  • Horizontal scrolling gestures and new arrow-shaped gestures for vertical scrolling

... and many improvements to stability and compatibility.

Our gesture sharing page continues to grow. Browse Gesture Exchange to import gesture mappings other users provided, or post your own custom functions there.

DownloadWith — v0.0.7

(download files with external programs)

DownloadWith is an extension for both Mozilla and Firefox that allows you to use third party download managers like Getright, Leechget, and Download Accelerator.

Features

  • Support 17 differents downloaders, more than one at a time
  • Download sample configurations for many popular download managers, including Download Accelerator Plus, Leechget, Getright, Star Downloader, and more, or manually configure any download manager that supports command line parameters. New sample configs are being added all the time.
  • DownloadWith selection box to download dialogs (new)
  • Can configure filetypes to automatically be downloaded by your download manger, providing "download monitoring" similar to the Internet Explorer integration that many download managers have (new)
  • Setting to download all files using your download manager rather than internal browser downloading (new)
  • New option to show or not show the download URL in the context menu entries (new)
  • Redirect url support (new)

QuickReply — v0.5.3

(QuickReply extension for Thunderbird)

QuickReply has been revived! It now works on Thunderbird (builds from 20040322 on). v.0.5.3 was released on April 11, 2004.

Other changes include: Resizable input box (with persistence), 'Stay open' pref, encoding support, line wrap support, progress bar support (as opposed to incrementing numbers for progress)

Improvements to come v. soon now in v.0.5.4
